Image Filenames - MicrocontentUpdated: 23rd July 2001 At least one search engine (AltaVista) uses image filenames to help when a user searches for images. Image filenames should therefore be named appropriately. For product pack shots we should follow the convention of: sage_line_50.gif For other images, a good rule of thumb is to match the alt tag. Images sliced by Macromedia Fireworks will have a master image name that is used to form the sliced image filenames. For example, an image exported as instant_accounting.gif will consist of sliced gifs named instant_accounting_r1_c2.gif, instant_accounting_r2_c2.gif etc. In these cases, follow the above guidelines for naming the master image and let Fireworks add the slice names. Images in our Press area will need the most attention as journalists may be looking for stock images for features/articles/news stories about Sage or our products. They are more likely to use multimedia search engines such as AltaVista. |
